In seiner Serie von Komposit Videos “die anderen sind wir” befasst sich Florian Tuercke – der mit seinen interaktiven und partizipativen Medienkunst-Projekten vorwiegend im öffentlichen Raum aktiv ist – mit dem Thema Mensch. Der Künstler stellt die Frage was bleibt, wenn man die individuellen visuellen Merkmale von Menschen verallgemeinert und als verbindendes Glied zwischen Ihnen lediglich der Ort bleibt an dem sie sich temporär oder dauerhaft aufhalten.
Nach Stationen in Ragusa (Italien), Wakefield (England) und Schweinfurt, produziert Florian Tuercke in Zusammenarbeit mit con[SPACE] nun ein Video-Portrait des Frankfurter Durchschnittsgesichts. Hierzu ist er mit Kamera, Stuhl und Leuchten im öffentlichen Raum unterwegs und bittet dort Menschen um ein Video-Portrait. Jeder der Teilnehmer sitzt für eine Minute auf einem Stuhl mit Kopfstütze, still in die Kamera blickend, während der Künstler ebenso bewegungslos hinter der Kamera verharrt. Durch die transparente Überlagerung der einzelnen Aufnahmen verdichten sich die urbanen Hintergründe zu einer abstrakt anmutenden Struktur aus Farbe, Licht und Bewegung, deren zentrales Element die leicht fluktuierenden Gesichtsüberlagerungen bilden.
In his series of composite videos entitled „the others are we“, Florian Tuercke, whose participatory media art projects are usually situated in public space, deals with the human face. The artist explores, which collective features remain, when the individual visual characteristics of people are merged; the sole link being the place where they reside temporarily or permanently.
After compiling videos in Ragusa (Italien), Wakefield (England) and Schweinfurt (Germany), Florian Tuercke produces a video portrait of the ‘typical Frankfurter’ in collaboration with the gallery con[SPACE] in Frankfurt (Germany). With a posing chair, camera and lights he strolls through the urban space and asks passers-by to sit for a portrait. Every participant sits down on the chair, looking straight into the camera, while the artist remains standing, equally motionless, behind the camera. Through the transparent superimposition of the individual takes, the urban backgrounds are condensed into abstract structures of colour, light and movement; the slightly fluctuating facial superimpositions dominating the centre of the composite video.
